Hi, I’m Marvin Applegate — a German-American zoologist, actor, and dog trainer. My work combines a scientific understanding of animalS and their behavior with a practical, compassionate approach to helping dogs and their humans communicate better.
I was born and raised in rural Germany, surrounded by nature, farm animals, and dogs. As a lifelong dog owner, my connection with animals started early and shaped everything that followed. My passion for animals led me to study biology at the University of Hannover, where I earned my Bachelor of Science, and later gained a Master of Science in Organismic Biology, Evolutionary Biology, and Paleobiology in Bonn. Through years of academic work, I gained a deep understanding of animal evolution, ecology, and behavior. After leaving academia in Germany, my experience working with shelter dogs in Panama reminded me how meaningful hands-on connection can be — and ultimately led me to focus on helping dogs and their humans professionally.
Now based on Florida’s Space Coast, I offer personalized dog training sessions for local clients. My approach centers on creating strong, respectful bonds between dogs and their humans. I want every client to feel the pride of walking down the street with a well-behaved, joyful companion — and every dog to feel mentally stimulated, fulfilled, and secure. My scientific background guides my philosophy: every dog is an individual, and every human–canine relationship can thrive with empathy, structure, and positive reinforcement.
I am a proud member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and stay committed to continuing education. I regularly expand my skills through workshops, courses, and the latest research in modern, science-based dog training.
